Following are the requirements to become a financial advisor :
- Obtain a valid certification from the National Institute of Securities Market(NISM) by passing their certification examination 'NISM Series V-A : Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination'
ARN Number issued by AMFI to the Individual,Senior Citizen,Partnership Firm or Company
ARN Certificate issued by AMFI to a person other than Individual
- Complete the Duly filled Empanelment form with a Photograph(For a Company, photograph is not required)
PAN Number
A Self-Declaration form stating compliance of circulars issued by AMFI
In case of a firm or company, the additional document is required which clearly states that all their employees are AMFI / NISM qualified
A Bank Mandate
- Submit the duly filled form along with the self attested documents as mentioned below to the nearest Tata Mutual Fund branch
Individual / HUF
- ARN card copy (Self certified & attested by AMC Branch) (In case of Individual/HUF, the ARN should be in name of Individual/HUF, the name of Corporate or Bank should not appear on ARN card copy)
- PANcard copy (Self certified photocopy & Duly signed and stamped by the Branch)
- KYD acknowledgement
- Cancelled Cheque Copy of the a/c no. mentioned on empanelment form
Corporate - Pvt.Ltd. Co / Public Ltd. Co. / Etc.
- Board Resolution mentioning distribution of Mutual fund products in original / photocopy, (If photocopy then attestation should be done by Co. seal with signature and AMC Branch) Board Resolution should be signed by all
the Signatories or Company Secretary. Authorized Signatory List should include Mode of Operation.
- Memorandum & Articles of Association (If photo copy then attested by the Co. seal with signature & AMC Branch)
- ARN Certificate should be in the name of the Co.and attested by Co.seal with signature & AMC Branch
- PAN Card copy of the Co.(attested by Co.seal with signature & AMC Branch)
- KYD acknowledgment (attested by Co.seal with signature & AMC Branch)
- Cancelled Cheque Copy of the Co.of the a/c no. mentioned on empanelment form
Banks
- Resolution mentioning distribution of Mutual fund products in original / photocopy, (If photocopy then attestation should be done by Bank seal with signature and AMC Branch) Resolution should be signed by the Authorized
Person (Name & Designation). Authorized Signatory List should include Mode of Operation.
- Memorandum & Articles of Association (If photo copy then attested by the Bank seal with signature & AMC Branch) OR any legal document indicating the registration of Bank (If photo copy then attested by the Bank
seal with signature & AMC Branch)
- ARN Certificate should be in the name of the Bank and attested by Bank seal with signature & AMC Branch
- PAN Card copy of the Bank (attested by Bank seal with signature & AMC Branch)
- KYD acknowledgment (attested by Bank seal with signature & AMC Branch)
- Cancelled Cheque Copy of the a/c no. mentioned on empanelment form
Partnership Firm/ HUF
- Partnership Deed (Attested by the firm & Branch)
- Partnership resolution mentioning distribution of mutual fund products in original/photocopy,(If photocopy then attestation should be done by partnership firm seal with signature and AMC Branch) Partnership Resolution should
be signed by all the Signatories. Authorized Signatory List should include Mode of Operation.
- ARN Certificate should be in the name of the firm (Attested by Firm with Signature & AMC Branch)
- PANCARD copy (attested by Firm & AMC Branch)
- KYD acknowledgment (attested by Firm & AMC Branch)
- Cancelled Cheque Copy of the a/c no. mentioned on empanelment form
Trust
- Trust Deed (attested by the Trust with signature & AMC Branch)
- Trust resolution mentioning distribution of mutual fund products in original / photocopy, (If photocopy then attestation should be done by Trust seal with signature and AMC Branch) Trust Resolution should be signed by all
the Trustees. Authorized Signatory List should include Mode of Operation.
- ARN Certificate should be in the name of the Trust (Attested by Trust & Branch)
- PAN copy (attested by Trust & Branch)
- KYD acknowledgment

Proprietary Firm
- ARN Certificate should be in the name of the firm attested by Co. with signature & AMC Branch
- PANCARD copy on Proprietor (Attested by Proprietor & AMC Branch)

What is Know Your Distributor (KYD)?
The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) introduced the Know Your Distributor (KYD) process effective from September 1, 2010. This was in an effort to review the existing registration procedure for Mutual Fund financial advisors
and initiate necessary action to strengthen the same. In addition, this process would also help ensure correctness of information furnished in the registration application and have an in-person verification of the ARN holders.
The KYD procedure consists of document verification and Bio-metric process. The financial advisor is therefore required to apply for KYD simultaneously along with application for registration of ARN. Please click here for

AMFI has engaged the services of Computer Age Management Services Ltd. (CAMS) to carry out the KYD process through their centers referred as "CAMS POS".
